For anyone that thinks the ISP’s who have agreed to net-neutrality will keep their word when it will hurt hem to do so (or benefit them not to do so) I have bad news for you. They won’t. The ISP’s are run by folks in the business world and sadly, they are motivated by one thing and one thing only – profit. They will do whatever it takes to ensure they make a dollar. If that means blocking a site that gives them bad press then they will do it without hesitation or a second thought about the consequences. The people in charge at Rogers, or any other ISP for that matter, don’t care what their customers think of them. They will say or do anything to protect their bottom line. And if we catch them they just say “Sorry, we didn’t know it would upset it.” Most of the time that line will work. They are also counting on the average person not knowing what they are doing and being to lazy to look into what ever is going on. Trust me I know. I left an employer after 7 years, posted what happened on my website and they blocked my site from all their company offices and had their lawyer send me a threatening letter. This from a company whose own website touts it’s caring about its workers. Yeah, caring that you do as you are told and never rock the boat. So if you honestly think that Rogers cares what we the consumer think, then you are mistaken. They care only that you pay your bill on time.

***TO THOSE WHO CANNOT ACCESS RUINEDIPHONE.COM***

Please note that this is not the fault of Rogers, Shaw, or any other internet service provider.

As some of you may or may not know, the site was pulled from the previous hosting provider for abuse of resources.

We have offered to James last night to host the site free of charge and have transferred the site to our servers.

The DNS changeover, known as propagation, can take up to 72 hours depending on the speed of your ISP. All our DSL customers are already able to utilize the site without issue.

If you are still unable to access the site, I advise using OpenDNS - http://www.opendns.com/ for your DNS rather than your ISP's DNS servers.

You may also access the site via the following URL:
http://inflexion.iisnet-networks.com/~iphone/

Please direct questions to jason [dot] yeung [at] instelink [dot] com.

As of right now, it's not Rogers fault and is only false rumor that is not true.

Thank you.

I just called Rogers Tech Support and after an hour of him getting me to run pointless tests, he actually admitted that Rogers was blocking the site and that it should be taken up with the office of the president, which I will do tomorrow. Amazing that they would break their net neutrality act. I'm canceling my Internet service tomorrow.

Ben: If it were a case of waiting for a DNS update as you suggest the error would be 404: Page cannot be found. Not 403: Forbidden as many of us (my self on Cogeco in Southern Ontario included) are seeing.

Since it is working and visible through a direct link through the host's address and through proxy servers, it doesn't appear to be a bad configuration on the web server either.

For now, I am siding with the censorship theory at least until more information is available.

thanks for posting the new petition location. I could only imagine how many people would have signed it if the servers didn't crash at the original location.

i'm in BC and we don't have Rogers internet here and we still get the Fordibben 403 error so i don't think it's Rogers playing big brother.

Go here to access RuinediPhone.com, with most features intact. The blog doesn't work yet, but you can sign the petition!
