cuil.com launches today! …who?
Wow, I really should be thinking simple when launching an internet startup.
Cuil.com, a new search engine, opens today. How do I know? It was on CNN for christ’s sake, oh, and it failed majorly on CNN as well, failing to show any results for “George Washington”.
So alright, epic fail on CNN, but I gave it a try anyway. The 3 column view is nice, but it’s far harder to search through results than the 1 column list google gives you. You can choose 2 or 3 column views on cuil, but no 1 column? Fail.
The biggest question I was asking is “Why would I use cuil over google?”, and there’s reason at all. Yes, cuil searches 120 billion webpages, but Google just passed 1 trillion. 2 or 3 column view is annoying. Well, I don’t know how they got CNN coverage, but so far it’s just another crappy startup that fails to do anything original.
